The cover artwork might look a bit odd, and yes, we were not able to create an exact replica of the colors and style, but well, the original is more than 70 years old. According to the artists and people we talked to who were involved in the making of this, well, relic, this might be the first punk single ever.
History is written by the winners, so every Tom, Dick and Harry knows that Sex Pistols single handedly invented PUNK. If you ask some glue sniffers, it might have been the Ramones, if you speak to cruder, weirder persons, they might tell you of a band named The Sonics, and if you dig deeper into other languages, Los Saicos might be on your radar soon. All false. The first punk single has been released by a small tourist office in Switzerland.
Maybe it was not intended to change music history forever. Maybe even the guest musicians, THE SHAME OF SHAAN, weren’t even knowing what they produced here. but in the middle of the 50s, in the middle of Europe, when everything was finally thriving again, economy, wealth, freedom, these two songs were about to hit the status quo. Rebellion was on the doorstep, Uh! Batman invented the soundtrack to it. Except that noone knew about it and the small print run of this single was just handed out – not even sold – to uninformed tourists who by chance were visiting Liechtenstein, stepping into the Quick Tourist Office, in the summer of 1954.
We took a risk. We did not ask anyone about reissuing this single. It might be the beginning of the end of Bachelor Archives. We might get letters from swiss lawyers soon. But what the heck, listen to these two songs, it is surely worth it!
